| A permanent residency visa has no restrictions on period or activities
until a foreigner granted this status of residence departs Japan. General
requirements for the permanent residence are as follows, however, some
requirements maybe lightened up depending on the current status of residence.
The processing for the visa can be carried out at Nagoya Regional Immigration
Bureau. For more information, contact the Nagoya Immigration Bureau or
the Immigration Information Center.
- He or she maintains good conduct.
- He or she has financial resources or technical skills to maintain an independent livelihood.
- His or her obtaining Japanese Permanent Residency will benefit Japan (In
principle he or she must have lived in Japan over 10 years, must not have
been sentenced to a fine or imprisonment, must fulfuill his or her public
responsibility such as tax payment.)
