What to do if your employer tells you to quit
Even if you don't want to quit, if you sign a letter of resignation or accept severance pay you will be regarded as having resigned. If you resign, unlike if you are dismissed, you are not eligible to receive pay in lieu of notice and cannot immediately be issued unemployment benefits. If you believe you have been unfairly dismissed, please consult either the Labor Standards Bureau with jurisdiction over your company or the Aichi Labor Bureau Advisor for Foreign Workers (052-972-0253, in English or Portuguese).
