Earthquake preparedness
Japan is an earthquake-prone country. The Tokai Region in particular is expected to experience a major earthquake of around magnitude eight in the near future. If a major earthquake is expected, the Meteorological Agency will issue a prediction and the Prime Minister will simultaneously make a warning declaration, but as earthquakes can occur suddenly without any advance notice you should both keep emergency stocks of water and food (enough for three days) and take measures to prevent damage such as bolting furniture to the wall.
